Pretending you’re not different

Dr. Dain Heer was always different, but he always tried not to be. He had a unique set of circumstances that he grew up in, and for many reasons, he never wanted people to feel bad and he never wanted people to feel less.

So he spent a lot of time trying to pretend that he wasn’t as different as he really was, because the ways in which he was different were the ways in which he was happier and saw more possibilities. And he spent years trying to hide all this.

At some point after finding Access Consciousness, when he was having a conversation with Gary Douglas, he realized he was diminishing his life for other people, and he was diminishing the life that he could be for the world. We all have something to contribute to this world.

The more he looks at what’s really true for him and the more he chooses it and doesn’t let anybody else take it away, the more people say they like how different he is.

Willing to be different

But he thought it was the other way around. He thought he needed to be more like other people, but every time he made himself less, people ignored him. People can spot a lie.

When you’re trying to be normal and you’re not, people discount you. But if you look at where people are having an influence, it’s because they’re willing to be different.

When you are willing to be that different, you’re being you and you’re not choosing to diminish being you. That’s really how you get there.

Consciousness and oneness

Every single one of us is unique. Consciousness is where everything and everyone exists and no one and nothing is judged, but that does not mean homogenization. That’s not the way oneness works.

With oneness, you are the drop in the ocean while simultaneously being aware of yourself as the ocean. We keep forgetting that our gift is being that unique drop with total connection with the whole ocean so we try to homogenize ourselves rather than have oneness.

We think it’s an unkindness to others to be different, but it’s the greatest kindness to others and to ourselves to allow yourself to choose to be the difference that you are.

Being different is being powerful

When you’re different, it always seems like the abuse you receive is because you’re different. That’s not why you experience the abuse. You experience the abuse, because you’re the most powerful person around.

The person who feels powerless will always try to bring down the powerful person. This often happens even to kids. It happens because 1) you’re a convenient target, 2) you’re the most powerful person around, and 3) it’s not personal.

But we tend to take it personal, like it’s your specific difference that makes it so that you're abused. But if you bend, fold, staple, mutilate yourself to fit in, they will find another reason to abuse you.

Somebody who abuses, abuses. Somebody who judges, judges. It wasn’t your difference, it was your power that they were trying to overcome so they could have a sense of power.

Choosing to be different

We hear the word “different,” and we already have so many definitions, projections, expectations, and reference points for it. “How do I define how different I am? How do I define how different I’m not? What is different? How do I be different?”

If we change that, things would get a lot easier. Part of changing that is to say: all the definitions, projections, expectations, reference points, and objectives of being different, I now destroy and uncreate it. What energy, space, consciousness, choice, magic, miracles, mysteries, and possibilities can my body and I be to be the infinite energy, space, consciousness, choice, magic, miracles, mysteries, and possibilities beyond this reality my body and I truly be for all eternity with total ease? And everything that is, times a godzillion, will you destroy and uncreate it? Right and Wrong, Good and Bad, POD and POC, All 9, Shorts, Boys and Beyonds.

Fundamentally it’s a choice. But how do you get there? You’ve always been there. You wake up, you breathe, and you choose. It’s just the extent to which you’re willing to choose to be different or not that really makes the difference!
